Leadership Forums A Success
Nearly 400 participants attended the Florida Assistant Principal Leadership Forums in April and early May of 2007. The focus of each Forum was on enhancing instructional leadership. Among the important topics addressed were:
Participants were provided with access to powerful online tools for themselves, their staff and their students through the use of ASAP leadership modules, Teacher Essentials modules and StudyBUZZ.
Two nationally prominent presenters at the Forums were Dr. Pam Robbins and Dave Weber.
Dr. Angie Matamoros shared success strategies for science instruction and high achievement on the science FCAT.
Dr. Pat Dixon offered a session on overcoming challenges to raising student achievement. She shared her experience as a successful Principal of Dillard Elementary--raising the school grade from a D to an A and sustaining that A for three years.
The event grouped participants in cohorts and provided a veteran mentor to facilitate throughout the event. The Forum mentor will continue to follow-up with participants and support them throughout the year as they implement their learning at the school site.
The Council for Educational Change and the William Cecil Golden Professional Development Program for School Leaders sponsored these incredible events.
Did you miss out on attending one? Do you know someone that might be interested in going to the next one? Two more Leadership Forums will take place in Florida this Fall.
